01Who is responsible
Copyleast.com (“Copyleast”, “we”, “us”) provides plagiarism checking and probabilistic AI-text detection. This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit the website, create an account, purchase access, submit material for analysis or contact support.
Copyleast.com is the controller of the personal data described in this Policy. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
02Data we collect
The categories of personal data we handle depend on how you use Copyleast.
- Account information. Your email address, display name if you provide one, authentication data and account settings.
- Submitted material. Pasted text, uploaded documents, submitted URLs, file names, reports, comments and related check data.
- Purchase and billing information. The package selected, price, currency, transaction reference, payment status, renewal status and refund status. Payment credentials are handled through the payment flow used at checkout.
- Support communications. Your name, email address, message and any references or attachments you choose to provide.
- Technical information. IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, security and diagnostic logs, and cookie preferences.
03How submitted documents are handled
Submitted material is processed to provide the plagiarism check, AI analysis or both, depending on the option selected by the user.
Documents are not automatically added to the general comparison database and are not used to train AI models. A private repository is used only when that feature is explicitly activated.
Documents and reports may remain in your account until you delete them or close the account. You can delete your own documents and reports. Deleted documents and deleted accounts are not retained in backups.
04Why we use personal data
We process personal data only when there is a reason to do so under applicable data-protection law.
- To perform a contract. We use data to create and manage accounts, run checks, generate reports, manage packages and quotas, process payments, renewals and refunds, and provide support related to the Service.
- For legitimate interests. We use limited data to protect accounts, maintain service security, prevent abuse, diagnose technical problems and resolve operational errors.
- With consent. Google Analytics, Matomo and other optional analytics technologies are activated only after you accept analytics cookies. You can reject or withdraw that choice.
- To meet legal obligations. We may retain or use records where needed for accounting, tax, consumer-rights compliance or lawful requests.
05Retention and deletion
Documents and reports may remain in your account until you delete them or close the account. Account information is generally retained while the account remains active.
Deleted documents and deleted accounts are not retained in backups. Billing and transaction records may be kept for periods required by accounting, tax, consumer-protection or other applicable laws.
Security logs and support communications are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, dispute handling and legal compliance.
06Cookies and analytics
Necessary cookies and similar storage technologies support authentication, security, sessions, account or package state, and storage of your cookie choice. These technologies are used where needed to provide the Service.
Google Analytics and Matomo are optional. They are activated only after you select “Accept analytics” in the cookie banner. Optional analytics may collect information such as page activity, approximate location, browser or device information, session data and online identifiers.
Copyleast does not use personalised advertising, remarketing or cross-site advertising cookies. You can reject optional analytics or change your consent choice by clearing the stored cookie preference and reopening the site.
07Service providers and recipients
We may share limited personal data with providers needed to operate Copyleast. Categories may include hosting and infrastructure, database and storage, plagiarism and AI-analysis infrastructure, payment processing, email and customer support, security and error monitoring, and consented analytics.
Google Analytics and Matomo may receive analytics data only after consent. Service providers may process data only for the services they provide and subject to the applicable contractual and legal safeguards.
Copyleast.com does not sell personal data to advertisers.
08Data location and international transfers
Copyleast uses service providers that may process personal data in the European Union, the European Economic Area or other countries. Google Analytics may involve processing or transfers outside the EU/EEA.
Where a transfer requires a legal safeguard, Copyleast relies on an applicable transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses or another mechanism permitted by data-protection law.
The exact locations involved may depend on the provider and the service configuration in use at the time.
09Your privacy rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a competent data-protection authority.
We may ask for enough information to verify your identity before completing a request.
To make a privacy request, email [email protected].
10Automated analysis
Copyleast uses automated systems to identify source similarity and calculate probabilistic AI indicators.
A similarity match does not automatically establish plagiarism. An AI result does not prove authorship and does not reliably identify a specific AI model.
Copyleast does not use these reports to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. A report should not be the sole basis for an academic, disciplinary, employment or legal decision.
11Security
Copyleast applies technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure.
No website or online service can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect account credentials and avoid sending passwords, full payment card details or unnecessary confidential information through support messages.
12Children and changes to this Policy
Copyleast is not directed to children who cannot lawfully consent to the processing of their personal data under the rules that apply where they live. If we learn that personal data was collected unlawfully from a child, we will take steps to delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Service, providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top of the page shows the latest update. Additional notice may be provided where required.
13Contact
For privacy questions, requests concerning your personal data or concerns about this Policy, email [email protected] or use the Contact page.
