This summary is for orientation. The sections below form the complete Terms.
01Agreement and service provider
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Copyleast website, accounts, plagiarism checks, probabilistic AI-text detection, reports and related services (the “Service”).
The agreement is between you and Copyleast.com (“Copyleast”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account, purchasing access or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled and forms part of the information governing your use of the Service.
02What Copyleast provides
Copyleast provides two separate types of automated analysis. Plagiarism checking compares submitted material with available sources and may show a similarity percentage, highlighted passages, available source links and per-source similarity details.
AI detection provides probabilistic indicators and may include AI probability, Total AI rate and sentence-level indicators.
A similarity match does not automatically establish plagiarism. An AI result does not prove authorship and does not reliably identify a specific AI model.
Copyleast provides automated indicators and report context. It does not make academic, disciplinary, employment or legal decisions.
03Eligibility and accounts
Some features are available without an account. Registration may be required for paid access, stored reports, account tools, package management or document history.
You must provide accurate and current information, protect your login credentials and notify support if you suspect unauthorised access.
You must have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms, or use the Service with permission from a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.
04Submitted material
You keep the rights you have in the text, documents and other material you submit. You give Copyleast a limited permission to process that material only as needed to provide the selected check, generate and store the report, support your account and resolve service issues.
You must have the right to submit the material. Do not upload content that you are not authorised to share or that unlawfully infringes another person’s rights.
Submitted documents are not automatically added to the general comparison database and are not used to train AI models. A private repository is used only when that feature is explicitly activated.
Documents and reports may remain in your account until you delete them or close the account.
More information is available in the Privacy Policy.
05Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service unlawfully or infringe another person’s rights;
- submit material without the authority required to share it;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data;
- circumvent quotas, package restrictions, payment controls or security measures;
- overload, disrupt, scrape or automate access to the Service without permission;
- reverse-engineer the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it;
- resell accounts or access without written permission;
- use reports for harassment, discrimination or a knowingly false accusation;
- present an AI result as proof of authorship or a similarity score as automatic proof of plagiarism.
06Free access, packages and payments
Without registration, free access allows up to 150 words per day. After registration, users receive a one-time allowance of 1,000 words and a daily allowance of 300 words. Free allowance is shared between plagiarism and AI checks. The one-time and daily allowances should not be treated as a guaranteed combined first-day total.
One-time packages are paid once, do not renew automatically and keep their unused balance without an expiry date.
Period packages last 30, 90 or 365 days. Their quotas apply only during the selected period, unused quota does not roll over, and plagiarism and AI allowances may be separate.
Exact prices, duration, quotas and any recurring option are shown before purchase. Prices are displayed in USD. Copyleast accepts Visa, Mastercard and PayPal.
Free and paid access may be subject to technical limits, abuse-prevention controls and the availability of the selected Service.
07Recurring billing and cancellation
Recurring billing may be offered only for an eligible period package. It is presented as a separate option and is not selected by default.
One-time packages never renew automatically.
When recurring billing is selected, the displayed amount is charged at the start of each new period unless the option is turned off before renewal.
Turning off recurring billing prevents the next renewal. The current package remains active until the end of the already-paid period. Unused allowance does not roll over, and turning off renewal does not itself refund the current period.
08Withdrawal and refunds
Where applicable, a consumer may have 14 days from the conclusion of an online service contract to withdraw.
When you ask Copyleast to begin a paid check during the withdrawal period, you request early performance of the Service. If applicable law allows it, proportional payment may be due for the part of the Service supplied before withdrawal, but only where the required request or consent was obtained.
A package is treated as used only after a successful paid check deducts quota. A failed check, technical failure, refunded check or check for which quota is restored is not treated as use.
Using part of a package does not automatically remove any statutory withdrawal right. Mandatory rules on withdrawal, early performance and full performance continue to apply.
- Voluntary refunds. A wholly unused one-time package or wholly unused current period package may be eligible for a voluntary refund.
- Recurring packages. For recurring access, a voluntary refund may apply only to the latest renewal when it is wholly unused. Previous periods and a partially used latest renewal are not eligible under the voluntary refund policy.
- Effect of refund. An approved refund turns off future renewal for the refunded recurring package.
- Statutory rights. Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.

09Reports and their limitations
Copyleast results are generated by automated systems and are probabilistic. Public-web and academic-source coverage cannot be guaranteed to be complete, source availability may change, and false positives and false negatives are possible.
A similarity score is not a plagiarism verdict. An AI score is not an authorship verdict, and Copyleast does not guarantee reliable identification of a named AI model.
A report should not be the sole basis for an academic, disciplinary, employment or legal decision. Users should review quotations, citations, drafts, writing history, assignment rules and other relevant context.
Copyleast does not guarantee a particular accuracy percentage or a result identical to another service. The Service is provided on an “as available” basis, subject to mandatory consumer rights.
10Intellectual property and external services
You keep the rights you have in submitted material. Copyleast.com retains rights in the Service, including its software, interface, branding, page content, report design, service logic and original graphics.
You receive a limited right to view, download, use and share reports for personal, educational or professional review. You must not alter a report in a misleading way, present it as definitive proof or remove notices for a misleading purpose.
Reports may link to external sources or rely on third-party infrastructure. Copyleast does not control the availability, accuracy, legality or content of external websites.
11Availability and liability
Maintenance, security work, service changes or third-party failures may temporarily limit access. Copyleast does not promise uninterrupted availability.
A confirmed failed check should not permanently deduct usable quota. Where technically possible, deducted quota will be restored or another appropriate remedy will be provided.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Copyleast.com is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed.
Copyleast is not responsible for decisions made by a user or third party solely from an automated report where the report’s stated limitations were ignored.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or any mandatory consumer right.
12Suspension, termination and account deletion
You may stop using the Service, turn off recurring billing, delete documents or delete your account at any time.
Copyleast may suspend or terminate access for a material breach of these Terms, fraud, payment abuse, quota circumvention, a security risk, or harmful or unlawful use.
Where reasonably possible, Copyleast will provide notice or an opportunity to correct the breach, unless immediate action is needed for security, legal compliance or prevention of harm.
Termination for a user breach does not create an automatic voluntary refund. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected. If Copyleast permanently discontinues paid access without user fault, unused paid access will be addressed through a refund or another appropriate remedy.
13Changes and applicable rights
Copyleast may update these Terms when the Service, package structure or legal requirements change. The date at the top of the page shows the latest update.
Material changes may be communicated through the website, account or email where appropriate. Changes will not retroactively remove an already purchased one-time balance. An already paid period keeps its main purchased terms until that period ends, except where a legal or security change must take effect sooner.
These Terms are governed by the law applicable to Copyleast.com and the relevant transaction, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections available under the law of their habitual residence.
If one provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply where legally possible.
